Keeping our Farm Gates Open

Over the past couple of weeks, we’ve had the pleasure of chatting to two very different, but equally enjoyable, groups about the farm.

The first was our local Women’s Institute (WI) during their Green Week. It was a fantastic opportunity to share some of the sustainability work we’re doing here on the farm, and how our approach is reflected through the principles of LEAF (Linking Environment And Farming) and the work being carried out by farmers across the country. It was a really engaged group, with plenty of interesting questions and discussions.

Our second visit was from a group of farmers from Switzerland who were touring farms across the UK. Farm visits are something we always enjoy, as they give us the chance to showcase the work happening behind the scenes. From larger environmental projects to the small changes we make for bugs, bees and other wildlife, it’s often the little things that can make the biggest difference.

These visits are never just about sharing what we do, they’re also a valuable opportunity for us to learn from others. We had some particularly interesting conversations with the Swiss farmers about grazing within meadows, exchanging ideas and experiences that we’ll continue to reflect on.

It’s always rewarding to welcome people onto the farm, whether they’re from just down the road or travelling from overseas. Sharing knowledge and learning from one another is an important part of building a more sustainable future for farming.
